Dad's Day @ VRE is November 7th
Published: Thu, Oct 30, 2014, 07:51PM CDT

How would you like to spend some time with your child at school? One thing is for sure, they will love you for doing it! This was one of our most popular events last year so come have lunch with your child.

Optionally, you can also spend some time in your child’s classroom before or after lunch. Last year dads participated in a variety of classroom activities such as math drills, science experiments, and collaborating with groups working on projects. What you do in the classroom will be determined by the teacher, so contact your child’s teacher and set up a time before or after lunch to help in the classroom. Also, you must complete a background check by October 31st.

Note, this is the morning after the VRE Community Night (Multicultural Night) so clear your schedule to attend both of these fun and important events. We hope to see you there!

Please visit VREDADS.ORG for more information on Dad’s club.

from your PTO President

Thank you for taking the time to open and read this email!

This year the PTO Board has been faced with a shortage of families who are willing to give a small percentage of their time to ensure that the PTO legacy at Valley Ranch Elementary continues. In the past Valley Ranch Elementary has earned the distinction as a school with a large population of parent volunteers that contribute their time and efforts to the PTO, we want this distinction to continue.

Did you know that your VRE PTO is why:
-there are room parents in your child’s classroom?
-there are three large events each year? (Community Night, Spring Carnival & Field Day)
-your child has a VRE tshirt?
-your child has technology available to them in their classroom?
-your child has their picture taken each year and a yearbook for each year they have attended VRE?
These are just a few things the PTO facilitates at Valley Ranch Elementary; however we cannot continue to do these things with less than 6 active board members! WE NEED YOU!

At this time one of the most critical positions to make these events happen is unfilled, the Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator position is critical to organizing volunteers for (but not limited to) Community Night, Spring Carnival and Field Day and creating an ongoing list of volunteers that can be called on for additional events.

Can YOU be the person to make a difference at Valley Ranch Elementary? Join the few of us who have made the choice to make a difference at Valley Ranch Elementary (in spite of our busy lives and schedules)! Contact us at; without YOU Valley Ranch Elementary PTO cannot be a success.

**Why Write a Check?** A teacher's perspective.
Published: Wed, Oct 15, 2014, 03:50PM CDT

Below is a message the PTO received from a classroom teacher sharing why Write a Check is so important to your student.

“Write a Check is so important for teachers, but more importantly, it is extremely beneficial for our learners. This fundraiser can help fund the technology we need to provide engaging learning opportunities in the classroom. I started this school year without a working smart board projector. As we waited for a replacement, my class was constantly asking when we would finally get a working smart board in the classroom. This experience proved to me how crucial technology is in the learning environment today. When preparing learners for the 21st century global workforce, the use of technology is essential. With a smart board, for example, our class can Skype with others from around the globe to learn about regional differences in weather, culture, geography, etc. Additionally, learners are more engaged when their learning experiences are interactive, which the smart board and other technology supports. Write a Check helps support our learners in so many ways.”

The Top 10 Reasons to Write A Check to VRE PTO
Published: Fri, Sep 26, 2014, 02:19PM CDT

10. No selling door to door

9. 100% of proceeds go directly to VRE

8. Your Employer may match your donation so please check with your employer!

7. You actually burn calories writing your check and you don’t consume additional calories from candy sale purchases

6. The PTO can more effectively support students and staff at VRE with special programs and sponsored field trips

5. Much needed technology equipment will be purchased for your children to use in their classrooms

4. The fall technology donation is matched by the school district dollar for dollar and there is no limit!

3. 100% of your donation is tax-deductible

2. There is strength in numbers. If we all donate, it opens up the possibility of putting I-pads and lap tops into the hands of more students.

And the number one reason to Write-A-Check…

1. It benefits your child directly in their every day learning to have this additional technology they would not otherwise receive without your donation.

Write your check payable to VRE PTO TODAY! A Great Big Thank You to all of our VRE families who have already donated!
